Created By... Leadership for Teens and Young Adults

Through our coaching experience we realized that all of our coaching clients had one thing in common—  they came to coaching as adults.  This is no surprise as the executive coaching industry is for, well, executives. But it came abundantly clear- not just to us but to our clients- that the tools of leadership in executive coaching could be just as impactful with our clients’ families- in particular with teens and young adults. Now more than ever— parents need leadership tools just as much as young adults need leadership.  And so our misconception- that executive coaching was just for executives- had to be corrected.

We of course grew up in a simpler time. Without the onslaught of social media and the rapid acceleration of technology. Life may not have been necessarily easier back then— but it was definitely more simple.

And yet despite living in simpler and likely safer times,  we as teens and young adults could have benefited greatly from the tools of leadership. How would high school have been different with the tools of self-discovery and awareness of others? How would the importance of core values and navigating our purpose have impacted our educational pursuits in college in choosing our career path?

But we of course did not have leadership tools. Instead, we were given the freedom to explore- “to find ourselves”- to try out jobs and see what might fit. And while all that “freedom” was in many ways freeing, it actually led many of us to lead lives of limitations… Until, our limitations became constraining enough where we sought out coaching.  And in doing so, we’ve found we’ve made up for lost time. That we now know ourselves and our patterns of behaviors- our triggers, and sore spots and blind spots— to lead us to the next chapter of our lives and beyond. Only to find that is not enough. Because the rest of our family doesn’t have the tools of awareness or the roadmap to create the lives they wish to have.

It doesn’t have to be that way. It shouldn’t be that way.

In our leadership development, teens and young adults will develop a personal operating system by:

  1. Building self-awareness and awareness of others. Through emotional intelligence, you can identify what it is that makes you unique and what it is that is distorting your best self.
  2. Identifying your core values to cultivate a conscious “compass” to navigate daily life as well as your future.
  3. Practicing daily alignment— how to stay balanced and true to your core self is one of the incredible benefits of leadership development.
  4. Learning how to show up— with self-discipline, self-regulation, and conscious intention.
  5. Using conflict resolution tools to work with others so that you have the relational intelligence to mitigate drama in relationships.
  6. Developing leadership presence. Developing a mindset of self-leadership as well as leadership of others.

Our leadership development is open to ALL teens and young adults. As a parent (David) of a child with special needs and as a coach (Matt) who was diagnosed late in life with ADHD, Created by… places a significance on providing leadership development for neuro-diverse young adults.
